Used alone, or in conjunction with HydraFacial, our diamond tip microdermabrasion accelerates exfoliation – removing dead cells and clearing clogged pores – so skin can more efficiently absorb the treatment’s healing serums. The result is smoother, brighter, younger looking skin.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Effective on all skin types for the treatment of light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, stretch marks, and many more issues. Microdermabrasion is often used to improve the results gained from other anti-aging treatments.
At PURE, we use HydraFacial Microdermabrasion, which uses diamond-tip Microdermabrasion to remove dead skin cells, preparing the skin to better receive the cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing serums used in this treatment.
How does Microdermabrasion work?
The newest approach to Microdermabrasion uses a diamond-tipped wand to gently remove the top layer (epidermis) of skin and exfoliate, stimulating new collagen-enriched skin growth.
What should I expect at my Microdermabrasion appointment?
Each HydraFacial, with an optional Microdermabrasion treatment, lasts about 30 minutes during which you may feel a mild scratching as your superficial skin cells are removed.
There is no down time or recovery period following Microdermabrasion however, after your treatment, we may recommend a special moisturizer or facial product to enhance and prolong your results.
What are the benefits of Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a relatively painless way for patients of all skin types to achieve glowing, youthful skin. By gently removing the outer layers of skin, Microdermabrasion helps to stimulate collagen production and effectively address light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, stretch marks, and many more issues.
- Improves age spots and blackheads
- Lessens hyperpigmentation (patches of dark skin)
- Exfoliates for refreshed appearance
- Reduced appearance of stretch marks
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Tightens or eliminates enlarged pores
- Treats acne and acne scars
What are the risks of Microdermabrasion?
Any mild discomfort experienced as part of Microdermabrasion is usually short-lived. This can include slight bruising, redness, and/or swelling which typically subsides within a few hours.
For a few days following your treatment, you can expect the skin to be flaky and dry as new collagen is produced. During this time, your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure so be sure to apply sunscreen.
How many Microdermabrasion treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments required depends on the severity of your skin damage. Many people have two initial Microdermabrasion treatments within a month, then one treatment per month as part of a maintenance plan.
Our experts at PURE will evaluate and discuss your specific needs in advance of starting any treatment protocol.
